headache is pain or discomfort in the head or face. Headaches vary greatly in terms of the location and intensity of the pain, and how often the headaches occur.
The brain tissue doesn’t have pain-sensitive nerve fibers and doesn’t feel pain. But, other parts of the head can be responsible for a headache including:
- A network of nerves that extends over the scalp
- Certain nerves in the face, mouth, and throat
- Muscles of the head, neck, and shoulders
- Blood vessels found along the surface and at the base of the brain
Different types of headaches include:
Migraine
In this type of headache, symptoms other than pain occur as part of the headache. Nausea and vomiting, lightheadedness, sensitivity to light (photophobia), and other visual symptoms typically occur with migraines. Migraines also have distinct phases. Not all people have each phase, however. The phases of a migraine headache may include:
- Premonition or prodromal phase. A change in mood or behavior may occur hours or days before the headache.
- Aura phase. A group of visual, sensory, or motor symptoms can precede the headache. Examples include vision changes, hallucinations, numbness, changes in speech, and muscle weakness.
- Headache phase. Period during the actual headache with throbbing pain on one or both sides of the head. Sensitivity to light and motion are common, as are depression, fatigue, and anxiety.
- Resolution phase. Pain lessens during this phase, but may be replaced with fatigue, irritability, and trouble concentrating. Some people feel refreshed after an attack, others do not.
Tension headaches
Tension headaches are the most common type of headache. Stress and tight muscles are often factors in tension-type headaches. These are common symptoms of a tension-type headache:
- Slow onset of the headache
- Head usually hurts on both sides
- Pain is dull or feels like a band or vice around the head
- Pain may involve the back part of the head or neck
- Pain is mild to moderate, but not severe
- Tension type headaches typically do not cause nausea, vomiting, or sensitivity to light (photophobia).
Cluster headaches
These are the most common symptoms of a cluster headache:
Cluster headaches usually occur in a series that may last weeks or months.
These are the most common symptoms of a cluster headache:
- Severe pain on one side of the head, usually behind one eye
- The eye that is affected may be red and watery with a droopy lid and small pupil
- Swelling of the eyelid
- Runny nose or congestion
- Swelling of the forehead
What causes a headache?
Headaches are classified as primary or secondary.
- A primary headache means the headache itself is the main medical problem, although other factors, such as muscle tension or exposure to certain foods, may be identified. Other contributing factors include medicines, dehydration, or hormone changes.
- A secondary headache is related to an underlying medical condition. An example of this would be a headache due to neck injury, eye problems, jaw, teeth or sinus infection.
How are headaches treated?
Your healthcare provider will figure out the best treatment based on:
- How old you are
- Your overall health and medical history
- How sick you are
- How well you can handle specific medicines, procedures, or therapies
- How long the condition is expected to last
- Your opinion or preference
The goal of treatment is to stop headaches from occurring. Effective headache management depends on finding what type of headache you have and may include:
- Avoiding known triggers, such as certain foods and beverages, lack of sleep, and fasting
- Changing eating habits
- Exercise
- Resting in a quiet, dark environment
- Medicines, as recommended by your healthcare provider
- Stress management
Migraine and cluster headaches may need specific medicine management including:
- Abortive medicines. Medicines prescribed by your healthcare provider act on specific receptors in nerves and blood vessels in the head to stop a headache in progress.
- Rescue medicines. Medicines bought over-the-counter, such as pain relievers, to stop the headache.
- Preventive medicines. Medicines prescribed by your healthcare provider taken daily to reduce the onset of headaches.
Some headaches may need immediate medical attention including hospitalization for observation, diagnostic testing, or even surgery. Treatment is individualized depending on the underlying condition causing the headache. Full recovery depends on the type of headache and other medical problems that may be present.

Fioricet Mechanism of Action
Fioricet is a brand name consisting of a combination of butalbital (a barbiturate), APAP and caffeine which is indicated for the treatment of tension headaches, muscle contraction headaches and post-dural puncture headaches. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever and fever reducer. Butalbital is in a group of drugs called barbiturates. It relaxes muscle contractions involved in a tension headache. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. It relaxes muscle contractions in blood vessels to improve blood flow.
Each tablet contains the following active ingredients:
-
-
- butalbital USP . . . . . . . . . .50 mg
- acetaminophen USP . . . . 325 mg
- caffeine USP . . . . . . . . . . .40 mg
-
Butalbital (5-allyl-5-isobutylbarbituric acid), is a short to intermediate-acting barbiturate.
Butalbital belongs to the group of medicines called barbiturates. Barbiturates act in the central nervous system (CNS) to produce their effects. When butalbital is used for a long time, it may become habit-forming, causing mental or physical dependence. However, people who have continuing pain should not let the fear of dependence keep them from using narcotics to relieve their pain. Butalbital is a Sedative Barbiturate which stimulates the brain’s production of GABA. This neurotransmitter calms the nervous system by blocking signals among neurons. It also relaxes muscle tension in the head, thereby alleviating headaches. Butalbital is a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States.
Physical dependence may lead to withdrawal side effects if treatment is stopped suddenly. However, severe withdrawal side effects can usually be prevented by gradually reducing the dose over a period of time before treatment is stopped completely. It has the following structural formula:
Acetaminophen (4´-hydroxyacetanilide), is a non-opiate, non-salicylate analgesic and antipyretic. Acetaminophen is used to relieve pain and reduce fever in patients. Acetaminophen is a medication which alleviates pain and reduces fever. It’s more widely known by the brand name Tylenol. Acetaminophen works by impairing the production of the prostaglandin chemical in the brain. This chemical activates pain signals in the nervous system.
It does not become habit-forming when taken for a long time. But acetaminophen may cause other unwanted effects when taken in large doses, including liver damage.
It has the following structural formula:
Caffeine (1,3,7-trimethylxanthine), is a central nervous system stimulant.Caffeine is a CNS stimulant that is used with pain relievers to increase their effect. It has also been used for migraine headaches. However, caffeine can also cause physical dependence when it is used for a long time. This may lead to withdrawal (rebound) headaches when you stop taking it. It has the following structural formula:
Inactive Ingredients: crospovidone, FD&C Blue #1 (aluminum lake), magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, pregelatinized starch, and stearic acid.
Caffeine is a Stimulant which raises a person’s blood pressure. While high blood pressure is not necessarily healthy, low blood pressure worsens headaches by causing blood vessels to expand and push against the brain. By raising blood pressure, Caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict and increases blood flow. This effect helps relieve headaches.
Fioricet Precautions
Do not use Fioricet if you have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days. A dangerous drug interaction could occur. MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine.
You should not use Fioricet if you are allergic to acetaminophen, butalbital, or caffeine, if you have porphyria, or if you have recently used alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or other narcotic medications.
To make sure Fioricet is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
-
-
- liver disease, cirrhosis, a history of alcoholism or drug addiction, or if you drink more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day;
- kidney disease;
- asthma, sleep apnea, or other breathing disorder;
- stomach ulcer or bleeding;
- a history of skin rash caused by any medication;
- a history of mental illness or suicidal thoughts; or
- if you use medicine to prevent blood clots.
-
It is not known whether Fioricet will harm an unborn baby. If you use butalbital while you are pregnant, your baby could become dependent on the drug. This can cause life-threatening withdrawal symptoms in the baby after it is born. Babies born dependent on habit-forming medicine may need medical treatment for several weeks. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
Pregnancy Category C
Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with this combination product. It is also not known whether butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. This product should be given to a pregnant woman only when clearly needed.
Nonteratogenic Effects
Withdrawal seizures were reported in a two-day-old male infant whose mother had taken a butalbitalcontaining drug during the last two months of pregnancy. Butalbital was found in the infant’s serum. The infant was given phenobarbital 5 mg/kg, which was tapered without further seizure or other withdrawal symptoms.
Nursing Mothers
Caffeine, barbiturates and acetaminophen are excreted in breast milk in small amounts, but the significance of their effects on nursing infants is not known. Because of potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
What You Should Know Before You Buy Fioricet Online ?
This medicine may be habit-forming. If you or your child feel that the medicine is not working as well, do not use more than your prescribed dose. Call your doctor for instructions.
Check with your doctor right away if you or your child have pain or tenderness in the upper stomach, pale stools, dark urine, loss of appetite, nausea, unusual tiredness or weakness, or yellow eyes or skin. These could be symptoms of a serious liver problem.
Serious skin reactions can occur with this medicine. Check with your doctor right away if you have blistering, peeling, or loose skin, red skin lesions, severe acne or skin rash, sores or ulcers on the skin, or fever or chills while you are using this medicine.
This medicine may cause serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. Call your doctor right away if you or your child have a rash, itching, hoarseness, trouble breathing, trouble swallowing, or any swelling of your hands, face, or mouth while you are using this medicine.
This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or not alert.
This medicine will add to the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants (medicines that can make you drowsy or less alert). Some examples of CNS depressants are antihistamines or medicine for allergies or colds, sedatives, tranquilizers, or sleeping medicine, other prescription pain medicine or narcotics, medicine for seizures or barbiturates, muscle relaxants, or anesthetics, including some dental anesthetics. Also, there may be a greater risk of liver damage if you drink three or more alcoholic beverages while you are taking acetaminophen. Do not drink alcoholic beverages, and check with your doctor before taking any of these medicines while you are using this medicine.
Before you have any medical tests, tell the medical doctor in charge that you or your child are taking this medicine. The results of some tests may be affected by this medicine.
Do not take other medicines unless they have been discussed with your doctor. This includes prescription or nonprescription (over-the-counter [OTC]) medicines and herbal or vitamin supplements.
Is Fioricet Addictive?
Although it’s only a prescription headache medication, Fioricet has the potential to cause addiction. If a person follows their prescription guidelines and uses the medication correctly, the risks of addiction are low. However, if someone takes too much Fioricet, they may develop tolerance to its effects. A person with tolerance to a certain dose of Fioricet will require higher doses of the medication to alleviate their headaches.
When a person with tolerance starts to take more Fioricet, possibly by obtaining more prescriptions, they may eventually become dependent on it. In other words, they may feel unable to get through the day without taking Fioricet; if they stop, they will experience symptoms of withdrawal. These symptoms arise because their body has grown accustomed to Fioricet in high doses.
If a Fioricet-dependent person attempts to weather withdrawal alone, it’s likely they will take Fioricet again just to relieve the symptoms of withdrawal. This is a hallmark characteristic of addiction. Anyone who compulsively abuses Fioricet to avoid withdrawal likely has an addiction to Fioricet. Additionally, people with an addiction to Fioricet will experience cravings for the medication which further compel them to keeping using it.
Moreover, the ingredient Butalbital is an addictive substance in its own right. Butalbital can cause someone to get “high” because it’s a Central Nervous System (CNS) Depressant. Since Butalbital is part of Fioricet, it is possible for someone to abuse Fioricet as a recreational drug. At high doses, Fioricet can intoxicate a person in a manner similar to alcohol. People who abuse Fioricet for this purpose have as much of a risk of developing an addiction as they would have if they repeatedly used an illegal drug.
Acetaminophen Warnings
Acetaminophen is an active ingredient in hundreds of over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medicines. It relieves pain and fever. And, it is also combined with other active ingredients in medicines that treat allergy, cough, colds, flu, and sleeplessness. In prescription medicines, acetaminophen is found with other active ingredients to treat moderate to severe pain. Acetaminophen can cause serious liver damage if more than directed is used.
One Fioricet pill contains 325mg acetaminophen. The max dosage of acetaminophen per day is 3000mg, but the most reliable amount should be 2000mg acetaminophen. It means you can take the max dosage of fioricet is six pills per day.
If you take other OTC medicines that contains acetaminophen, you must count the total amount of fioricet, never exceed the max dosage 2000mg.
How to take Fioricet ?
1 or 2 capsules every 4 hours as needed. Total daily dosage should not exceed 6 capsules.

Fioricet Overdose and Treatment
Following an acute overdosage of butalbital, acetaminophen, and caffeine, toxicity may result from the barbiturate or the acetaminophen. Toxicity due to caffeine is less likely, due to the relatively small amounts in this formulation.
Fioricet Overdose Signs and Symptoms
Toxicity from barbiturate poisoning includes drowsiness, confusion, and coma; respiratory depression; hypotension; and hypovolemic shock.
In acetaminophen overdosage: dose-dependent, potentially fatal hepatic necrosis is the most serious adverse effect. Renal tubular necrosis, hypoglycemic coma, and coagulation defects may also occur. Early symptoms following a potentially hepatotoxic overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, diaphoresis, and general malaise. Clinical and laboratory evidence of hepatic toxicity may not be apparent until 48 to 72 hours post-ingestion.
Acute caffeine poisoning may cause insomnia, restlessness, tremor, and delirium, tachycardia and extrasystoles.
Fioricet Overdose Treatment
A single or multiple drug overdose with this combination product is a potentially lethal polydrug overdose, and consultation with a regional poison control center is recommended. Immediate treatment includes support of cardiorespiratory function and measures to reduce drug absorption.
Oxygen, intravenous fluids, vasopressors, and other supportive measures should be employed as indicated. Assisted or controlled ventilation should also be considered.
Gastric decontamination with activated charcoal should be administered just prior to N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to decrease systemic absorption if acetaminophen ingestion is known or suspected to have occurred within a few hours of presentation.
Serum acetaminophen levels should be obtained immediately if the patient presents 4 hours or more after ingestion to assess potential risk of hepatotoxicity; acetaminophen levels drawn less than 4 hours post-ingestion may be misleading. To obtain the best possible outcome, NAC should be administered as soon as possible where impending or evolving liver injury is suspected.
Intravenous NAC may be administered when circumstances preclude oral administration.
Vigorous supportive therapy is required in severe intoxication. Procedures to limit the continuing absorption of the drug must be readily performed since the hepatic injury is dose dependent and occurs early in the course of intoxication.
Fioricet Drug Interactions
Fioricet Drug Active Ingrdients and Inactive Ingrdients
Fioricet Drug Interaction
Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.
Some products that may interact with this drug include: anticholinergic medications (e.g., scopolamine), darunavir, drugs affecting liver enzymes that remove this medication from your body (such as cimetidine, disulfiram, valproic acid, fluvoxamine), isoniazid, lithium, MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, rasagiline, safinamide, selegiline, tranylcypromine), methoxyflurane, naltrexone, other medications for pain (e.g., pentazocine, nalbuphine, morphine), phenothiazines (e.g., chlorpromazine), sodium oxybate.
This drug can speed up the removal of other drugs from your body by affecting certain liver enzymes. These affected drugs include “blood thinners” (such as warfarin), corticosteroids (such as prednisone), estrogen, felodipine, quinidine, certain beta-blockers (such as metoprolol), theophylline, doxycycline.
The risk of serious side effects (such as slow/shallow breathing, severe drowsiness/dizziness) may be increased if this medication is taken with other products that may also cause drowsiness or breathing problems. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other products such as other opioid pain or cough relievers (such as morphine, hydrocodone), alcohol, marijuana (cannabis), drugs for sleep or anxiety (such as alprazolam, lorazepam, zolpidem), muscle relaxants (such as carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine), or antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine).
Check the labels on all your medicines (such as allergy or cough-and-cold products) because they may contain caffeine or ingredients that cause drowsiness. Certain beverages (such as coffee, colas, tea) may also contain caffeine. Ask your pharmacist about using those products safely.
Other medications can affect the removal of this product from your body, which may affect how this product works. Examples include azole antifungals (such as ketoconazole), bupropion, fluoxetine, macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), HIV medications (such as ritonavir), paroxetine, quinidine, rifamycins (such as rifabutin, rifampin), certain drugs used to treat seizures (such as carbamazepine, phenytoin), among others.
This medication may decrease the effectiveness of hormonal birth control such as pills, patch, or ring. This could cause pregnancy. Discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if you should use additional reliable birth control methods while using this medication. Also tell your doctor if you have any new spotting or breakthrough bleeding, because these may be signs that your birth control is not working well.
This medication may interfere with certain medical/laboratory tests (including urine 5-HIAA levels, urine VMA levels, urine catecholamine levels, amylase and lipase levels, dipyridamole-thallium imaging tests), possibly causing false test results. Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know you use this drug.
Fioricet Abuse and Dependence
Butalbital
Barbiturates may be habit-forming: Tolerance, psychological dependence, and physical dependence may occur especially following prolonged use of high doses of barbiturates. The average daily dose for the barbiturate addict is usually about 1500 mg. As tolerance to barbiturates develops, the amount needed to maintain the same level of intoxication increases; tolerance to a fatal dosage, however, does not increase more than two-fold. As this occurs, the margin between an intoxication dosage and fatal dosage becomes smaller.
The lethal dose of a barbiturate is far less if alcohol is also ingested. Major withdrawal symptoms (convulsions and delirium) may occur within 16 hours and last up to 5 days after abrupt cessation of these drugs. Intensity of withdrawal symptoms gradually declines over a period of approximately 15 days. Treatment of barbiturate dependence consists of cautious and gradual withdrawal of the drug. Barbiturate-dependent patients can be withdrawn by using a number of different withdrawal regimens. One method involves initiating treatment at the patient’s regular dosage level and gradually decreasing the daily dosage as tolerated by the patient.
I am young, about 39 years old and I have been taking this medicine for several years. I get tension headaches and severe migraines this medication works if i take it soon as i feel a migraine coming on, unlike other meds this one actually works for me. But it gives you one hell of a rebound headache then a migraine like you can’t even imagine, and thats what happened to me a couple of years ago.
I have had migraines since I was 17 and now I am 25 years old. Fioricet is the only medicine that works for me. I have been to all the migraine specialists but all do not work. Finally my neighbor neurologist told me to use this med and it works.
I don’t know why these other doctors don’t listen to the patients.
Be very careful with this medication because I have taken it on and off for 20 years. About 7 years ago, the headaches were getting worse and the REBOUND headache happened.
I stopped taking this medication on my own and wound up having seiners and then had to go to a hospital for withdrawal.
I have chronic daily migraines for over 10 years. They have completely affected my everyday duties.
I finally heard about fioricet after 13 years. This is truly the best migraine medication that has EVER helped me not only quickly but also longer than anything else I’ve ever tried.
I take 1-2 tablets either at the start or during the attack and within 15-30 minutes I can begin my everyday life just like I never had a migraine. The only bad thing is the rebound headaches but now that I only take it when needed instead of 6 tablets everyday as first prescribed, I no longer suffer from the rebounds. This drug is a miracle drug for me.
I had migraines since age 8, finally went to my DR. at age of 23 and this is what he gave me.
It changed my life completly, and I was able to live a fun, full life…
The headaches drasticly changed four days after his birth. So I now have Chronic Daily migraine Headaches, and have pain 24//7 for 19 Yrs,now, Nothing else I have tried works to help the pain. I juggle life around my headaches.
It has been a very useful med. for my needs.

klonopin is a controlled substance, and you can not buy it online. It is illegal to buy controlled substance online.
Do you mail to a p.o. box, they hold it, don’t put in box because it’s c.o.d , thanks
YES. We can ship to P.O.Box. If you are returned customer, you can also get card pharm URL and you can pay the pharm by credit card.
I cannot seem to get my order in please contact me or send my order ASAP! Fioricet is so very helpful and your business has been VERY good to promptly send my order COD!! Thank you!!
I need my tracking number sent again. I deleted it by mistake…
Thank you so much
Steve, I’m an old customer and I placed order before by credit card. Now this is the second time that I place the order of fioricet and you guys send to me that my order or card was declined. I want to know why . I’ve always paid and received the medicine. Please let me know what’s going on. I’m paying in credit card detail URL
Hey Maria,
The card can be declined for any reasons. Normally it is declined because the card issuer decline the operation.
First Time Card customers must use prepaid card.
What I can do is to ask the card processor to process your card another time.
Best Regards!
I want my regular, I think its 120 pills cod. How much is it?
I need an order form
Hi! Steve have been trying to get in touch with you for a tracking number. My regular mail person is retiring and the new ones doesn’t know how to the C.O.D.?
I’m wondering if my order went through? Or do I need to place another order

I’ve ordered numerous times I get an email saying I should receive and email when it’s shipped but I never receive anything and I have never reviewed a order!
My name is Adriana Garcia I put in a order and said it went successfully but I never received a confirmation or tracking number. Thank you Steve
Hey Adriana,
We received your order already in returned customer only websites. We do not send confirmation email in returned only customer websites.
Too many email sending made the hosting company think we are spammer. More Information:

Hi my name is Kim Jaynes. I placed an order on October 21st and didn’t realize the process had changed about the confirmation email. Can you check to see if my order was placed or if I need to place the order again?
I ordered Fioricet 180. Picked up package at Post office today. Paid $239. Turned out I was sent Gabapentin!! I don’t take that? How do I get Fioricet 180 asap??
Hey Eilleen,
Please take a picture of it with USPS tracking ID and we will send you correct package.
I am so sorry about the mistake. We do not answer email at weekend. ( Actually from Friday. But tracking ID was sent on Friday ).
Good morning Steve!! I have been ordering from you for years . Excellant customer service . But my last order has been lost , due to wrong post office, so I have reordered , and now it shows it has been sitting there for three days ? What is going on ? Please advise . Thank you !
Hey Stephanie Paige
please wait four business days to contact us about your order. Both USPS and Delivery guy need time to update their records.
Thanks for understanding
I placed my order 7 days ago. I have emailed you for a tracking number but all the responses I receive computer generated!! Such as, you probably gave the postman a check. When I have NOT RECEIVED MY ORDER! I am a long time customer. I don’t understand why I can’t get the correct answer! I want a tracking number and to make sure you received my order. STEVE PLEASE let me know so I am home for the postman. Thank you!!
I too have been a long time customer. I have placed 3 separate orders since Dec 9th. No response from two of them at all, and the post office is still waiting for the item on the other?
What is going on? Are you still in operation? Looking at some of the other posts, it seems like you are going out of business maybe?
We never cash checks and we will not do business with guys who paid checks. If some one has paid us a check before, we will not answer any emails from him/her any more because the email was sent to a black hole.
Thanks for understanding.
Hey Peter,
W5 did not work in holiday. They just begin to work this week. W2 sent you a order yesterday.

Different warehouses have different prices. All the Fio in the warehouse you ordered have the same prices.
The cheaper Fio is in a different warehouse. But their prices will increase soon.
Thanks
Hey David,
We sent you tracking ID last week. Please contact our email if you have specific questions.
Thanks
